River currents.
Lowered by cranes. Survey tower on outboard end.
Gina/Omega rubber joints between element. Final joint
between last two elements was made using gasketted
steel plates installed by divers. Provision was made in
joint to the land section for settlement.
Jetted-sand method was used. Silt was first removed by air-jetting for agitation by new
method developed by contractor, and the action of the river current. At one end,
unsuitable material was removed by over-excavation and replaced with sand, which was
then vibro-compacted.
