the steel shell element was fabricated on this platform.
A gantry crane was used for placement.
One end is a rigid joint; the other is an expansion joint.
Continuous steel shell treated with a cathodic protection system.
The steel shell element was supported at both ends by caissons in the manner of a
submerged bridge.
