Two tubes; three lanes each. Two lanes for fast-moving traffic and one truck lane.

The third lane in each direction is provided for slow-moving traffic. Escalators at both
ends of the tunnel permit cyclists and pedestrians to avoid the long, steep grades.

Drecht Tunnel.
High water velocity to 2.1 m/sec. caused difficulties during immersion operation
Transverse pontoons with two control/survey towers.
Gina gasketted joints on the elements. Gasketted plates
at the end joint.
Bottom provided with 6 mm steel plate. Shrinkage control by cooling wall pours and
division of elements into shorter lengths of 22.0 m. Posttensioned together during
transport and immersion.
Sand-flow method, similar to Vlake and Drecht Tunnels.
